What to do when your visa expires, and how to approach a new application after a refusal.
Short answer
When your visa expires, apply again with a new DS-160, fee, and interview unless your post offers an interview waiver. After a 214(b) refusal you may reapply; strengthen the weak points rather than resubmitting the same file.

- Check whether you qualify for an interview waiver at your post
- Bring a recent photo and your old passport if required
After a refusal
There is usually no mandatory waiting period. Read the refusal reason, then decide whether your situation has genuinely changed before paying again.
What changes help
New ties to your home country, a different travel purpose, or clearly stronger finances can make a reapplication meaningful. The same file twice usually gives the same result.
